Internship Adaptive forest management

Internship Adaptive forest management

Adaptive forest management: developing and conceptualising planning through modelling

  • Location

INRAE Champenoux

  • Missions

The intern will first have to carry out bibliographic research on adaptive forest management in order to understand the current management issues, focusing on regular monospecific species (to be determined together).

They will use a forest management and dynamics model to test management scenarios from silviculture guides for a monospecific forest under regular management. The aim will be to identify their limitations in a context of climate change.

They will then use a theoretical framework to evaluate and define an adaptive management plan, consisting of cutting and planting in existing regular monospecific forests. The management choices to be tested will be considered in close collaboration with the intern, based on possibilities and preferences.
