On the teaching side, I design courses and tutorials and supervise projects for a varied audience (AgroParisTech engineering students, master's students, specialized master's students, and professional bachelor's students).

I study the persistence of past land uses, the effects of disturbances, and the effects of management practices, comparing them with other anthropogenic environmental changes (particularly climate change) on the dynamics, structure, and biodiversity of forest ecosystems. My research focuses specifically on transitional forest landscapes, from open habitats to recent forest stages, including fallow lands, across different climatic zones (Mediterranean, mountainous, and temperate lowlands). My approach adopts a long-term perspective (the last 200 years), operates at multiple spatial scales (from plants to ecosystems, landscapes, and territories), and integrates historical ecology methods.

I use GIS to compare historical and recent maps to reconstruct the forest dynamics. I also aim to analyse the climatic and socio-economic drivers of subalpine forest dynamics and assess the consequences of forest expansion for alpine and subalpine ecosystems. As a postdoc, I focus particularly on linking subalpine forest dynamics to greening dynamics in the French Alps and Pyrenees.

My research focuses on analyzing the impact of environmental change on plant species and forest ecosystems across large spatial (national) and temporal (century-scale) dimensions. I investigate how these changes affect plant growth, decline and distribution, as well as the overall dynamics of forest ecosystems. To address these questions, I model species’ ecological niches in relation to climate variables and soil water and nutrient availability. I seek patterns of species decline and colonization that drive species migration and long-term succession processes in plant communities. These evolutions are analysed in light of recent changes in climate and soil fertility, and interpreted in terms of species and communities adaptation or vulnerability to novel environmental conditions. From an applied perspective, I assess the bioindicator value of plant species in relation to soil properties and the conservation value of plant communities using classification approaches based on the European Habitats framework. The tools developed are used alongside long-term floristic surveys conducted by the French National Forest Inventory to support the spatial assessment and monitoring of eutrophication, acidification, and the conservation status of forest habitats.

I work on modeling the water properties of forest soils (field capacity, wilting point, and plant-available water) based on the physico-chemical properties of the soil (bulk density, particle size distribution, organic carbon content, porosity, etc.). I am also looking to estimate the organic carbon content of soils—which is useful for modeling soil water properties—based on easily obtainable properties such as soil color. My activities include data collection (laboratory measurements, sampling of forest soils in the field), data processing and statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and writing scientific reports.
