Thesis topic: Effects of species mixtures including a nitrogen-fixing species on biomass production and above- and belowground allocation in temperate forest and agroforestry systems.

My doctoral project aims to investigate the functioning and performance of mixed forest and agroforestry plantations integrating nitrogen-fixing species in temperate climates. Building on the long-term Agro-TCR experimental site in La Bouzule (2014–2022), it examines the temporal dynamics of interspecific interactions. The research is structured around two complementary components: (i) the assessment of aboveground biomass and wood production across multiple scales, and (ii) the analysis of belowground biomass allocation among root categories and associated nitrogen stocks. The overall objective is to improve understanding of allocation strategies and complementarity mechanisms in order to optimize the design of productive and sustainable mixed systems.
